workshops conducted by five VALA artists in Richmond, sponsored by
the Ed Fund, the East Bay Community Foundation, and the Richmond Art
Commission.

Lincoln School exhibited at Children's Hospital in Oakland.

Spring 2002
- January - Teacher Training Workshop, Lincoln School, Oakland
- May - Showing of an animated film created by Carolyn Dobson's
5th grade class at Cragmont School in collaboration with two artists
from PIXAR animation studios as part of the Berkeley Art Center's Youth
Arts Festival. As part of the same festival, performance of shadow plays
by two classes from Lincoln School, using scripts and puppets of their
own creation, assisted by Filipino shadow play puppeteer Ramon Abad.

- March - Children's Art Exhibition and Performance by India
Cooke, Chamber Arts House, Berkeley
- April - VALA projects participated in Alameda County of Education's
Art is Education Exhibitions. Works were displayed at the Oakland State
Building, the ACOE's offices and in Jack London Square.
- May - Poetry Readings by children at Cragmont and Lincoln Schools,
Berkeley Art Center
Fall 2000
- October - Teacher & Artist Training Workshop, Cragmont
School, Berkeley
- December - Children's Art Exhibition and Native American Art
Auction, Gaia Building Solarium, Berkeley. Artist and Activist Sean
Nash contributed a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his artwork
to VALA.
